Who I am

I’m the author, Elizabeth Mitchell.

My website address is: https://emitchellwrites.com.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Comments

At the moment there are no places to leave comments, should that change, the below statements would apply.

When visitors leave comments on the site, the website collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. It all goes through WordPress. Unless you sign up for my newsletter, I see none of this information.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. *Again, this has nothing to do with me; it’s just something to be aware of.

Content

If you use the content (synopsis, quotes from the novels, my bio, etc.) for any reason, credit accordingly and link back to me.

Media

If you use the media (novel covers, inspiration photos, music, banners, etc.) for any reason, credit them accordingly and link back to the appropriate source.

Cookies

All of the below disclaimers about cookies are relating to a possible login I may have in the future, thus I will leave them. At the moment, the website has no need to keep your email or password. It will, however, remember that you’ve chosen to sign up or not to sign up to the mailing list for one year unless you clear the cookies.

If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, the website will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who I share your data with

Technically Mailerlite will have your email addresses (if you sign up for my mailing list), as will BookFunnel (should you buy a book through my website). That being said, they aren’t the ones that collect it. I am. If you don’t wish to be on my newsletter, the subscribe button is on the bottom of each email. You’ll only get a few a year, so look out for them to take yourself off. I do not sell or share your information.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. For users that sign up for my newsletter, I will also store the personal information they provide in their user profile for as long as they are signed up. If you’d like anything removed, just contact me.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on this page at any time, you can request that I erase any personal data that it may contain or the comment itself. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. If you’re on the newsletter, you may unsubscribe at any time, and that will take your name, email, and mailing address (if you provided it) out of my list.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

I only collect this if you share it for newsletter purposes.
